Most IP changers assigns an IP , it wont be changed until you actually disconnect. I want my IP to be changed every 5 minutes automatically while I surf and also for other purposes

it a good application. should try.
for linux, install proxychains and tor and search for a script called tor-buddy.sh which can change your ip every 30 seconds if you want

If you use proxychains/tor on linux, as HXR ROFO suggested, you can also use crontab to change your ip at intervals of your choosing.
